Juventus Target Robert Acquafresca Has Picked Atalanta - Agent

Robert Acquafresca - Cagliari-Torino - Serie A (Grazia Neri)

As suggested in the Italian press this morning, Genoa and Italy Under-21 centre forward Robert Acquafresca has decided to join Atalanta on a season-long loan.

“We have communicated it to Genoa and they have taken three days to make a decision,” agent Paolo Fabbri told Tuttomercatoweb.

“Of course, the Rossoblu own his registration and they will have the final word.”

There have been suggestions in recent days that Juventus were pondering a bid for the 21-year-old, possibly as part of the deal that will see Genoa sign defender Domenico Criscito in a co-ownership agreement.

And a possible scenario is that Juve acquire Acquafresca’s rights before loaning him out to Atalanta.

“I am not aware of this, but it could be a possibility,” replied Fabbri.

“But as I said, Genoa own the player and it’s up to them to find an agreement with other clubs.

“Robert has chosen Atalanta because they were very close to capturing him last summer. It was practically a done deal, but [Inter president Massimo] Moratti opposed the move.”

Acquafresca was still owned by Inter until a few weeks ago, but the Italian champions sold him on to Genoa in the deal for South American pair Diego Milito and Thiago Motta.
