Buffon: "See You In Pinzolo"

While the majority of the squad has begun its countdown to the return to the field, those players who were busy with international competitions have just begun their holidays.

With the Confederations Cup and the Under 21 European Championship having come to an end, the return dates are now definite. The azzurri who were in South Africa will be in Pinzolo on the 16th of July whilst the youngsters will arrive on the 18th of July with the exception of Giovinco who will be undergoing an operation on Wednesday and which will delay his return by a few days.

It is holiday time for all then, a time to rest and recover after months of activities. Amongst these is Gigi Buffon. The number one spoke of his current state of mind on his own website www.gianluigibuffon.com. He also took the opportunity to speak about the adventure in South Africa but also to start thinking of the upcoming appointments:

"I will be at the Summer camp in Pinzolo on the 16th of July, together with my mates who were with me with the national team. We will begin the new season with the intention of doing well, knowing that a long road awaits us full of ambitious goals. We have the right cards to do well and it is up to us to confirm the expectations. We hope to be able to play in a more balanced championship then the last and to be able to close up on the gap which separated us from Inter".

Before thinking in bianconero and even before getting back to his holidays, Buffon had another glance at the Confederations Cup which ended with Brazil claiming the cup.

"Our adventure ended early but we must try to look at the positive side. It is better to have done badly now then at the World Championships or in the European Cup. We went to play in the tournament in a condition which was far from excellent, we were at 60% of our condition".

"This type of competition is useful to test the squad and identify the errors which one must nit commit in view of the 2010 World Cup. Next year we will be at our top and the group will be ready. The doors to the national team are open and Lippi knows he can count on everybody: on us who won the world title in Germany three years ago but also on others who showed their worth in these four years".
