Bianconeri And Internationals, All The Results


It was a Saturday rich in international matches for many bianconeri who were busy with their respective teams. One of the most satisfied is without any doubt Nicola Legrottaglie who played for the full 90 minutes in the friendly which saw Italy easily beating Northern Ireand by 3-0.

Good news also came from Group 8 of the world cup qualifiers with regards to the opponents of the azzurri. Eire drew 1-1 in Sofia against Bulgaria strengthening the second place with Italy still one point ahead (14 points) and a match in hand. In the same group the match between Cyprus and Montenegro ended in a 2-2 draw.

Other Juventus players joined the azzurri in the evening in view of their participation in the Confederations Cup: Buffon, Chiellini, Camoranesi, Iaquinta and new signing Cannavaro. Before the prestigious tournament, Italy will play another friendly match in South Africa on the 10th of June against New Zealand.

On Saturday night, 4 bianconeri were busy with world cup qualifiers: Mellberg and Poulsen played against each other during the mach between Sweden and Denmark valid for Group 1. Poulsen got the better winning 1-0 away and complicating life for Mellberg and friends.

In the group in fact Denmark is first with 13 points whilst Sweden is 4th with 6 points and a match in hand. On Wednesday 10th June the Swedes can attempt to climb up to the third position with 9 points when they play against Malta in Gotheborg.

At the moment in the same group the team to have 9 points is Tiago’s Portugal. The bianconero did not play yesterday during the victory obtained by the lusitani in Albania. Even Alexander Manninger was a spectator in the 1-0 victory of Serbia against Austria.
