Cobolli Gigli: "Champions And Youngsters - A Winning Mix"

"The affection towards Alessio and Riccardo and their families is intact. I was at Castelfiorentino and I wanted to be present at the tournament played in Turin and as long I remain president of Juventus I will continue to be present at these occasions to commemorate those two splendid boys".

The words pronounced by Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli at the prize-giving ceremony of the "Ferramosca-Neri" tournament are heart-felt. The tournament was held on the fields of Atletico Mirafiori in memory of the two youngsters who died tragically on the 15th of December 2006 in Vinovo.

The president spoke to Juventus Channel, first in remembrance of Alessio and Riccardo and then changing subject to other topics. The first of these was the quality of the youth sector which this year won the Viareggio Tournament and saw the qualification of the Giovanissimi to the final eight of the championship:

"The youth sector is our strong point in view of the future. Juventus has a number of high-level youths in which we believe very much. It is no chance that the coach of the first team was the director of the youth sector with his technical team. The youngsters and the great champions of Juventus are one compact thing".

An example of this philosophy can already be observed in Pinzolo where youngster Lorenzo Ariaudo should be training alongside the national team’s captain Fabio Cannavaro:

"Ariaudo will remain with us and will have a lot to learn from Cannavaro who will be giving his best because of the upcoming world cup. I am convinced that this mix of champions and youngsters will bring us great satisfaction".

It will be up to Ciro Ferrara to create a group which can fit in well: "Ferrara and his staff won the faith of the directors and of all the supporters on the field. The last two matches would not have been won no matter what because both the one against Siena and the one against Lazio were very much sought. I am saying this without any intention of controversy because even though we were in a good position the atmosphere changed in the last two matches".

"We appreciated the great dedication with which Ciro’s group carried out their job very much because they put in all heart and soul to come second. At the end of the match against Lazio we got back to facing our commitments with passion and professionalism. Blanc and all of us put them on the Juventus stage knowing that a great amalgamation would be created between the technical staff and the team".
