Primavera: Maddaloni: "We Should Have Done Better"

"It was a good season because we won the Viareggio Cup but could have been a triumphant one. We were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the championship and this sort of brought things down a bit".

Massimiliano Maddaloni, the Primavera coach, has not yet overcome the disappointment with regards to the elimination suffered on Monday afternoon against Palermo in the final eight. The coach, guest on the last episode of the season for Springtime, the programme on Juventus Channel dedicated to the Primavera on air tonight at 21:30hrs, explained the defeat in this way:

"There were various reasons: many of our players were not at their best from Immobile to Rossi to Ariaudo and the fact that I had to share my time between the first team and the Primavera also left its effect. One must not forget that our team is a very young one and at these levels a year more or less can make a difference. These however, should not be excuses. We did well but could have done better and this is why we are sad".

It was an intense season for Maddaloni. The coach in fact formed part of the staff who drove Del Piero and friends during the last two weeks of the championship and if Ferrara were to be conformed the doors of the first team would probably be opened to him too:

"We are all awaiting serenely the decisions of the directors. Ciro and I feel that we are Juventus persons and whatever the decision is we will be happy to continue our work in black and white. I felt honoured to be able to train champions like Del Piero or Nedved for two weeks. It was a short period but very exciting and rich in satisfaction".
